Bull Terrier Appearance
The Bull Terrier is a medium-sized substantial dog, with a determined expression. This breed is well known for their large, egg-shaped head that often makes them appear very focused and attentive to their owners. His body is longer than tall. They are strongly built and muscular with strong jaws. The eyes are very small, triangular shaped and placed close together. His ears are also small, erect and close set. The tail is set low and on the short side carried horizontally.
The Bull Terrier has a flat coat that is extremely short, fine and harsh in texture. The most common colors are solid white, any color other than white is also accepted, or any other color with white markings. The weight of the Bull Terrier is around 50-70 pounds and the height is around 21-22 inches.
Bull Terrier Temperament
The Bull terrier is a strong, athletic and energetic dog. They are loyal, polite, sweet natured and obedient dog. These breed is incredibly charming, happy and clownish but could also be stubborn and manipulative some times. The Bull terrier requires human attention and interaction to be happy and secure. They become attached to their owners and families and do not succeed when left alone for long period of times and could become destructive. They love children, but their rough and tumble style of play can easily flatten a young child. The Bull terrier can be very aggressive with other dogs and small animals if not well socialized at a young age. You will need to train a Bull Terrier to ensure that his natural instincts don't turn into aggression.
Is Bull Terrier the Right Dog Breed for Me?
The Bull Terrier will do okay in an apartment if enough exercise is provided. They are highly active and need lots and lots of physical and mental exercise. His need could be met on a long walk on leash, a vigorous game or a run in a safe area. The Bull Terrier prefers warm climates. He should no live outdoors except in temperate weather but are best when they have access to house to spend some time inside with the family. They are very protective and devoted to their owners and can make excellent watch dogs.

The Bull Terrier major concerns are deafness (white) and kidney problems They could also be prone to heart problems, patellar luxation, Zinc deficiency and skin allergies. Bull Terriers can also suffer from obsessive compulsive disorder, such as tail chasing, scratching, chewing, and obsessive licking. As with all breeds the Bull Terrier will need regular vaccinations, worming, flea and tick treatment to keep him healthy.
Bull Terrier Care & Grooming
The Bull Terrier is easy to groom and only requires an occasional brushing. Brush with a firm bristle brush, and dry shampoo occasionally. Bathe in mild soap only when necessary. Over bathing or frequent bathing your dog will strip the oils from the coat and may cause severe skin irritations and possible allergy type reactions. Do not over feed this breed as it tends to gain weight easily.

The Bull Terrier is a heavy shedder; you'll find hair stuck to your couch, carpets, clothes and everything else in your home, therefore is not best suited for those with allergies.
